I feel like Arjuna in this situation because as much as I don’t want to do the dishes, I will because I know it is my job to do them. If I do my job I will have good karma which will benefit me in my future. The cultures in America today are much different than that of India. With that being said, the ancient Indian perspective of the Bhagavad Gita would be a lot different than current American’s perspective. As it is my duty to do the dishes, people in India’s duties may consist of very different tasks such as going to war like Arjuna. The Bhagavad Gita could be used as a tool of oppression because the upper echelon could manipulate minorities by forcing them to do certain things because it is their duty to do so.
Feng Shui
After I moved the stuff around in my room, the Chi was free to flow in all directions through my room. Before, Chi was able to be blocked by the numerous things in the middle of my room. There is now nowhere for the Chi to accumulate, and it’s much better now that it can gently flow. My room can relate to the elements Metal and Earth because most of my room is brown and white. I really like what these two elements stand for, strength and stability, because those are two important attributes in life, and feng shuing my room helped bring out these elements. In all honesty I’m not quite sure how to relate my feng shui to the Bagua, but my overall feelings towards this change in my room are very positive. I can feel the space around me and the flow of positive energy throughout my entire room now which is really nice. I just feel better being in my room now than previously. Feng shuing my room has been a huge positive change and I am very glad that I chose to do it.
The Taoist Walk
The most powerful sensation during this walk was probably taking in the beauty of nature in silence. Walking through in silence made it easier to admire my surroundings. I had not previously been on that path, but I really enjoyed the path there was a lot to look at and it was pretty scenic. I did not hear much around me, but every once in awhile I could hear a little bit going on in the nature. The only thing I could really smell was the sewage when we walked by that plant. The thing I thought about was how at peace everything seemed to be while we were all silent. It was really cool to just take everything in. I just felt really peaceful during the walk and really at peace with myself. It can be compared to Taoism because I was kind of connected to the nature around me because I was solely focused taking in my surroundings and without any other distractions it was as close to the nature as I could have been.
How Will I Grow in 1181?
Hopefully between applying myself and getting some guidance from Mr. Sturtevant, I will gain a lot of valuable knowledge in this course. Obviously, I have very little to no knowledge about anything in this course, so it should make sense that I improve dramatically by the end of it.
